BOTOX® is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. It is a nonsurgical, simple treatment that can temporarily reduce moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people 18 to 65 years of age. During treatment, very low doses of BOTOX® are administered via a few tiny injections directly into the muscles that cause those stubborn lines. The treatment is usually done in about 15 minutes, and no recovery time is needed. Within days, you may see an improvement that can last approximately 3-6 months. Results may vary.
Those moderate to severe frown lines between your brows form over time as the result of muscle activity. BOTOX® is injected directly into the muscles between your brows. It works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the injected muscles; this reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those persistent lines to form.
Within days, you may see a marked improvement in the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows. Lines continue to improve for up to a month, and results can last for up to 6 months. In clinical trials, nearly 90% of men and women rated the improvement in their appearance as moderate to better 1 month after treatment. Results may vary.
Results from treatment with BOTOX® can last for up to 6 months. If you discontinue treatment, the frown lines between your brows gradually will look like they did before treatment.
Discomfort is usually minimal and brief. Prior to injecting, your clinician may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes. Many people are in and out of the physician's office without downtime following BOTOX® treatment.
BOTOX® should not be used in the presence of infection at the proposed injection site(s) and in individuals with known hypersensitivity to any ingredient in the formulation. Patients with neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects.
The most common side effects following injection include temporary eyelid droop and nausea. Localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising may be associated with the injection. Patients with certain neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects.
Although the results are visible, a treatment with BOTOX® will not radically change your facial appearance or make you look as if you "had work done". The muscle activity that causes frown lines between the brows is simply reduced, so you can still frown or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases between your brows.
If you do not continue treatments, the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows will gradually look like they did before treatment.
HydraFill® is a new, biodegradable hyaluronic acid based implant that is directly injected into the dermis to help preserve and restore a youthful looking skin. Hyaluronic acid plays an important role in moisturising the skin and helps to give the skin its elasticity and tone. It is the fundamental matter in which the collagen fibres and elastin are emerged.
There are 3 HydraFill® products, Grades 1,2 and3, which correspond to the three wrinkle types commonly found in the skin. These wrinkle types are correlated with areas of high or low movement in the face and each type has different requirements for repair.
For the most noticeable folds and lines, to remodel the lips, and to enhance facial contours.
Ideal for smoothing the wrinkles between the nose and the corner of the mouth, those between the eyebrows, and around the mouth area.
Formulated to correct the fine lines that form crow's feet wrinkles around the eyes.
With HydraFill®, fine lines, wrinkles and folds are immediately filled and corrected. Mouths too, can become fuller and lips more clearly defined. In addition, as an oval facial shape is often associated with a younger appearance, augmentation in the cheek area can enhance a youthful appearance.
A HydraFill® treatment usually only takes 15 to 30 minutes. For the best corrective effect, two or three sessions are recommended during the first year.
You will be able to resume your normal professional and family life immediately after treatment.
Generally no. For some of the more sensitive areas (around the lips), an anaesthetic cream or a superficial local anaesthetic can be applied before the HydraFill® injections for increased comfort. A dental block may be utilised for maximum comfort.
In the hours that follow your injections, you may see some slight swelling or small red marks. These can be masked easily with a foundation cream.
Yes, HydraFill® can be used in particular for nasiolabial folds and deeper cheek wrinkles.
Restylane™ is a gel that is injected into the skin in order to add volume to lips and lift up wrinkles and folds. Restylane™ consists of hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance already present in your body. Once in the skin, Restylane™ works by creating volume. Some dermal fillers are derived from animal substances. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane™ is non-animal.
During treatment, the crystal-clear Restylane™ gel is injected into the skin in tiny amounts with a very fine needle. The gel produces volume under the wrinkle, which is lifted up and smoothed out. When enhancing lips or facial contours, Restylane™ adds volume and shape to the treated area.
Treatment with Restylane™ is a very quick and easy process. As no pre-test is needed, the treatment can be carried out immediately. A treatment generally takes 30 minutes. The time differs somewhat, depending on the correction you wish to have performed.
Restylane™ can be used for smoothing out folds and wrinkles, lip enhancements and shaping facial contours. The most common areas are the glabellar lines (between the eyebrows), the nasolabial folds (from the root of the nose to the angle of the mouth) and the lips, although other sites can also be treated. Very superficial or very deep wrinkles may be difficult to correct. Please consult your physician for an assessment.
Most people find the injections relatively painless. They may prick a little. If you like, a topical anaesthetic can be applied to the area being treated prior to your procedure. When enhancing the lips, a local anaesthetic injection is often given.
The results can be seen immediately.
Immediately after the treatment, you can expect slight redness, swelling, tenderness or an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injection. The discomfort is temporary and generally disappears within a few days. After a lip treatment, the lips may become swollen and look somewhat uneven. This can persist for a few days (up to a week).
During the first 48 hours after your treatment, do not massage or rub the treated area. If you have had lip enhancement, avoid puckering your lips for the first two days after the treatment. Until the initial swelling and redness have resolved, do not expose the treated area to intense heat (e.g. in a solarium or by sunbathing) or extreme cold.
No However, Restylane™ dissolves naturally with time. If you feel uncertain about the desired result, you can choose to have the treatment carried out in stages on different occasions.
No. However, Restylane™ is sometimes used in conjunction with surgery to fill out wrinkles that cannot be removed by surgery.
Look at yourself in the mirror and think about the result you are expecting. Try to convey your expectations to your clinician before the treatment and ask him or her what is possible.
Poly-L-lactic acid, the main ingredient of Sculptra™, has been used successfully in surgical procedures for bioresorbable sutures, in bone plates and screws, and as a medium for medication, among others for more than 25 years. Sculptra™ has been specially developed to repair contour defects in the face. More than 150,000 patients have been treated worldwide since 1999.
Sculptra™ is long-lasting, biocompatible, and biodegradable. With Sculptra™, you can restore facial contour and get rid of lines and wrinkles without surgery. Sculptra™ is a synthetic, injectable material that contains skin-smoothing microparticles to help lift and smooth sagging skin, severe wrinkles, creases, dark circles, and scars.
A qualified clinician who has been trained to use the correct procedure for Sculptra™ performs the treatment. Your healthcare professional will clean your skin and then inject Sculptra™ in the areas of your face requiring treatment.
As with all injections you will feel some discomfort. It may be that you notice a brief burning sensation at the injection site. An ice pack applied after the treatment will help to calm your skin. If necessary, your healthcare professional can also give you a local anaesthetic.
Your healthcare professional will give you special aftercare instructions. These include massaging the treated areas of your face in the first few days after the treatment. All you need is a few minutes twice a day. Inform your healthcare professional if any side effects occur, such as inflammation or small bumps in the treated area.
The most common side effects with the use of Sculptra™ include injection-related side effects at the site of injection such as bleeding, tenderness or pain, redness, bruising, or swelling. These effects generally resolve in 2-6 days.
One possible delayed side effect with Sculptra™ can be the formation of small bumps under the skin in the treated area. These small bumps may not be visible, and you may notice them only when you press on the treated skin. These bumps tend to form within the first 6 to 12 months after the first treatment. Occasionally, these bumps go away by themselves. Visible bumps, sometimes with redness or colour change to the treated area, have also been reported. As with all procedures that involve an injection through the skin, there is a risk of infection. Report any side effects to your healthcare professional.
No. At your first treatment visit, it may appear that Sculptra™ worked immediately because of the swelling from the injections and the water used to dilute Sculptra™. In a few days, when the swelling goes down and the water is absorbed by your body you may look as you did before your treatment. Sculptra™ takes time to work; results should be noticeable after approximately 6 weeks. Your healthcare professional will see you again in a few weeks to decide if you need more Sculptra™ injections.
A whitening process that lightens discoloured enamel and dentine. It is also the most popular dental cosmetic treatment.
There are many causes. The most common include ageing,, consumption of staining substances (coffee, tea, cola, tobacco), trauma, nerve degeneration and old restorations.
Almost anyone. Having a whiter, brighter, younger-looking smile can boost your selfconfidence. Artificial dental work such as porcelain crowns, veneers and fillings are not responsive to the whitening process. Here your clinician will carry out a preliminary oral examination of your teeth to determine suitability and show you what results you can expect to achieve from teeth whitening. Satisfaction is always guaranteed.
There are three main types of whitening treatment available in the UK – Power Whitening Home Whitening and Whitening Toothpastes.
Power whitening utilises the state of the art lightactivated teeth whitening technology that works in just one hour. Home whitening needs to be carried out at home for two weeks. Both give excellent results. Whitening toothpastes need to be used over a long period of time and only marginally help to remove surface stains. Unlike Power and Home whitening, they do not remove stains embedded in your teeth.
Both treatments use an oxygen releasing whitening gel placed against the surfaces of your teeth. As oxygen enters the enamel and dentine, it whitens the coloured substances. Only the teeth colour is made lighter, while the structure of the teeth remains unchanged.
Yes. Extensive research and clinical studies indicate that whitening teeth with oxygen releasing gel under supervision is safe for teeth and gums. It will not affect teeth structure, enamel, fillings or restorations.
Some people may experience temporary teeth sensitivity during the treatment. These symptoms always disappear within 1-2 days of interruption or completion of the treatment.
Your teeth will be noticeably whiter than they were, and the effect can last up to 3 years. However, exposure to tobacco, certain foods and drinks such as red wine, tea and coffee will gradually stain teeth again over time.
Various clinical trials have shown that our product is safe and effective in whitening your teeth under supervision by our specially trained dentists. Those bought over the counter are not comparable, and without supervision by a specialist, their results can be unpredictable.
You can discuss teeth whitening with our clinicians who will be able to answer your more specific questions. Alternatively, you can find out more about teeth whitening and see some before and after photographs.
